The KRG Childcare Section is a vital player in the delivery of childcare services in Nunavik. Its primary role in this respect is to support 14 childcare centres located in every community. Because the Childcare Section possesses particularly solid technical and professional resources, for several years it has been responsible for the regional administration of provincial childcare laws, regulations and financial assistance. These responsibilities include issuing permits and inspecting childcare centres to ensure that the children enrolled are looked after in an appropriate manner and that there is compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

More specifically in terms of support, the KRG Childcare Section regularly delivers technical assistance to the parent board of directors and staff of childcare centres in a variety of fields, including financial management, building management, insurance, learning activities, nutrition, health, hygiene, board activities, laws and regulations, staff management, and policies.
